Indiana

Situated between Illinois and Ohio and just below Michigan, the Hoosier State occupies the center of the Midwest. Incidentally, the original meaning of Hoosier is no great compliment: it means an ungainly, awkward yokel. But Indianans have unabashedly embraced the name. Hoosier is also the team name of Indiana University in Bloomington. A few Indiana culinary traditions include Persimmon pudding, Indiana chile (with beef and beans), and popcorn. About half of Indiana’s farmland is planted in corn, and Hoosiers have been popping kernels since Native Americans first taught them the trick. The Indianapolis 500, held every year over Memorial Day weekend, is one of America’s premiere tailgating events. Pre-race, fans can fuel up at Breakfast at the Brickyard and the annual Champions Pasta Dinner. And the winning driver of the Indy 500 traditionally hoists a big glass bottle of cold milk in the winner’s circle.

Chocolate Gravy II

This is a great recipe... but just a little sweet for my taste. I agree with some of the other viewers, reduce the amount of sugar to 1/2 cup and add an extra 2 or so tablespoons of butter.

Garlic-Brown Sugar Chicken

Reviewed on Dec. 4, 2008 by GessicaAbsi
Wow, I was skeptical to try this because of others reviews...but it looked so easy...I am so glad I made it!! My husband doesn't like too much vinegar...and I'm happy to report this WASN'T too vinegary. It was great! The only changes I made were that I used chicken breasts instead of a whole chicken and placed everything in the crockpot on low for 4-6 hours (I didn't marinate.) I thickened the sauce on the stove with cornstarch and water..and it turned out great! I will definitely use this recipe again and again! Thanks for sharing it!

Marshmallow Treats

Reviewed on Dec. 4, 2008 by JBLAZ17
This is a good basic recipe! I added two spoonfuls of peanut butter and about 1/4 bag of chocolate chips at the end of the melting process for a chocolate/peanut butter type dessert instead! It turned out really good! I also added about 1T. milk after the other extras so it stirred better and made it more creamy! Yum! Thank you for the recipe!
