Real Hummus

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2008
This is excellent! I have tried hummus several times, but was disappointed but with the list of ingredients, I should have liked it. I guess you just have to make it yourself! Thanks for the recipe.

Best Bread Machine Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2008
I have owned my machine since 2003 and have used it alot. Never have I made such a wonderful light and fluffy bread. I love my machine but was tired of bread that wasn't soft like the store bought. So I tried this recipe and like many was a bit leary on the mixing yeast with the water. My machine says not too. But I listened to my trusty family on line here and WOW this was truly amazing. I follwed the suggestions of eveyone and added an extra 1/2 tsp salt. I used some Whole wheat flour as well. I set the machine and took off. When my family come home there was a beautiful loaf of perfect bread waiting for us to chow on. Only one problem.....we ate it all too fast and now it's gone...have to make more. I love that there are only 6 ingredients!!

Mom's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2008
I haven't reviewed this yet, but I've been using this recipe for a couple of years now. This is the greatest, and so versatile. I've even used the base for peanut butter cookies, and a variety of other flavors. This is excellent.

Four Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: May 28, 2008
I love baked Macaroni and Cheese...but hate the box. I have a couple of recipes that I go back and forth between because they have different flavors, and this is one of them. I just love it...I make the recipe just as it is written, but perhaps get a little more cheese in because I'm eyeballing it. To me, this consistency is perfect. Old fashioned baked macaroni & Cheese has a lot of body to it and without the eggs in this recipe, it would be too gooey for me and too much the consistency of the box. It's a matter of personal preference. This recipe is just delicious.

Cream of Pumpkin Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2008
Wow, is this good!! I love good, hearty soups and this hit the spot. I did things a little different. I combined about 3/4 of a stick of butter with cinnamon, nutmeg, honey and brown sugar. I buttered both sides of the bread and cooked it on one side for about 10 minutes, flipped them, turned off the oven and let them sit in there while I made the soup. (I only did a thin layer of this butter mixture on the bread; I have a lot leftover for toast!) I sauteed the onions with just a fistful of brown sugar (maybe a loose 1/4 cup or less) with the one cup of broth (I used vegetable). It gave the onions a very light but flavorful sweetness. After blending it, I returned it to the deep pan I used, and added about 15-17 ounces of canned pumpkin, 2 more cups of broth, generous shakings of cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger, pinch of salt, few shakes of pepper, another ~1/4 cup of brown sugar, some drizzles of maple syrup and let that cook accordingly. Then I swirled in maybe 1/3 cup of cream, because it was already really thick. It turned out great! The croutons are

Lemon Square Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2008
:O That was my face after eating one of these! Wow! I really don't like lemon squares, but I loved these! The only things I changed was to add some lemon peel to the crust and add a touch more flour to the lemon mix. These were a fantastic hit at game-night, and I think all of my friends experienced severe sugar-and-lemon overdoses.

Chewy Granola Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2008
These are FANTASTIC!! I have made these about 6 or 7 times now in the past 3 weeks. So easy and good. I make them because we try to cut back on buying snacks at the store due to costs. The changes I made to make them fit my household were these: instead of 1 cup of flour I used 1 cup of my house flour which is: 1/3C of wheat germ, 1/3C whole wheat flour and 1/3C of unbleached all purpose flour. Then I added dried bing cherries, some chocolate chips and pecans. The batch I am making now have craisins, chocolate chips and almonds. My children can't stop eating these and they are perfect for their lunch snacks and after school and sports snacks. Thank you!!!

Mexican Whole Wheat Flour Tortillas

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2008
THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!! I have tried for 15 years to make tortillas. Each time I'd fail and throw the idea away. Then I decided to try it again with your recipe. I didn't use the wheat flour. I just made flour and I used my electric mixer. They were AWESOME!!!! I am so excited. I am hispanic, and although my grandmothers both made homemade tortillas I never got to learn prior to their passing. So Thank YOU again!!!!

Apple Dumplings with Rich Cinnamon Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2008
Let me tell you, this recipe is a **winner**. I'm from Ohio and there is a meat market where you can purchase the frozen dumplings and sauce to make at home and when my parents fly here (California) they bring them with...several packs because I've never seen a recipe that duplicates them. This is it. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I feel like this is a taste of home.

Easiest Peanut Butter Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2007
After a coworker brought some peanut butter fudge her mother-in-law made, I was determined to find my own recipe. This tastes SO good -- it's just like the fudge I had! I sifted two cups of the powdered sugar into a large bowl, where I used my mixer to blend it with the peanut butter and vanilla. While I was doing this, I had the other stuff on a slow boil on the stove. I greased up a pan, poured it all in, and had no powdered sugar lumps. It's setting in the fridge right now, but I had to lick the spatula -- it tastes great!
